    clas·sic
    ˈklasik/, adjective
    1. judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind.
    2. (of a garment or design) of a simple elegant style not greatly subject to changes in fashion.
    synonyms: simple, elegant, understated;

    I decided to start a new series called Still, Will, Always. It’s been about 3.5 years since I jumped onto the fashion blogging bandwagon. As I’m about to tip into my late-20′s, walking into Forever21 now overwhelms whereas it used to excite, my keyword used to be ‘experimental’ now shifting into ‘dependable’, and feel most ‘myself’ in specific cuts, colors and accessories. Granted, many of us often carelessly buy the similar garments to what we already have in our closets, but suppose that fastidiousness and allure to specific garments is more than just a bad habit? Perhaps that consistency actually speaks more about how we view our own bodies, the search for self identity through what we wear and what we represent. Yes the classic wardrobe is subjective at best- particularly in womenswear- but there are some garments I never get tired of looking at compared to others and that’s what I want to focus on: the evolution of ‘iconic’ pieces in my wardrobe.

    The series won’t be consistent; sporadic and dependent on whiffs of inspiration but revolving around the theme of the classic and timeless wardrobe be it through a specific garment, a silhouette or a stylistic detail.

    Still, Will, Always: Leather

    Hi, this is me in my second home: Prince Edward flower market. The outfit pretty much sums up all that I like: black/grey/white, a texture mix of waxed denim/leather/weighty knit, the slim garconne silhouette and accessories that make me laugh (condom beanie and chinese mafia Ray Bans). But my big purchase this year was the reclaimed leather jacket. Past winters you saw my moto leather vest paired with cardigans and layered over blazers because my hesitation towards buying one with sleeves was:
    1) Black hair + black jacket = Wednesday Addams (depressed Goth)
    2) the standard cut isn’t long enough for long torsos.

    The jacket I ended up splurging on is cut two inches longer than most, made of deerskin with a rough papery texture in this pale grey that makes me look a little less like the offspring of Professor Snape (as if my hair’s natural middle parting isn’t enough). The best detail is the interior pocket- a feature on all men’s jackets I think they ought to carry into womenswear. The leather is also sourced from excess material from a motorcycle accessories company to cut waste. Cool, no?

    Outfit photos by my awesome mom, rest by me.
